Experienced Wales based IPEN Placenta Specialist Rhiannon Marston’s recent Welsh client tells us why her placenta remedies gave her the energy she needed to be the mother she wanted to be and shares photos of her beautiful umbilical cord keepsake on display at a Newport art exhibition
“I can’t even remember when I first hard about placenta encapsulation, I think it was linked to some celebrity or other, but I do remember thinking “that makes sense”. So when I fell pregnant I had a look online but thinking that it was probably going to be too expensive or too far away. But then I found Rhiannon! I was able to encapsulate my placenta at an extremely reasonable price by a fully-trained and certified encapsulator that was just a few miles from me (?!) – PERFECT!
She made the whole experience not just easy but exciting! I was told exactly what was going to happen, when and how and so when the time came to give birth to my lovely son my partner Carolina and Rhiannon arranged everything and before I knew it I had a placenta smoothie in my hand. It’s ok, you can think it, everyone does. Everyone thinks it’s a bit disgusting and that it’ll taste dreadful but let me tell you from first hand experience- it tastes of nothing but the fruits it’s blended with. I remember being so tired and limp after labour and I kept thinking “I can’t look after my baby tonight, I’m knackered and spaced out, what if I drop him?!” WOW! What an energy booster! I had been in labour for almost two days and after the smoothie I was so awake I couldn’t sleep. I felt strong, I had energy, I was focused and that is exactly how I’ve felt taking the capsules too. Of course I’ve been tired but never exhausted. I’ve been sleepy but never drained. I’ve had plenty of milk to feed, my uterus contracted straight away and my third degree tear (yes, it was a biggie!) healed perfectly in two weeks. Is it all thanks to the placenta capsules? I have no idea but it most definitely contributed massively towards me being a happy first time mother.
The placenta capsules have been on a bit of a journey too! Sometimes by mistake and sometimes on purpose, I have left a few capsules all over Wales. There are some in North Wales, West Wales and Cardiff. And in Newport, all on it’s own, hanging from a piece of string is my very last placenta capsule participating in an art exhibition in Newport. It’s exhibited with the beautiful heart-shape that Rhiannon created out of my umbilical chord (as a gift with my capsules! How nice is that?). It was quite an experience to have Celt and so seeing a vital part of that experience in the gallery was really special. It encapsulates the beginning of a very exciting journey.”
